A Family Adventure Challenge

The Quest Arrow

Today our islands are a peaceful and welcoming haven for local residents and visitors alike, but this was not always the case! In days gone by adventurers, warriors, saints and explorers came to Mull, Iona and our surrounding islands in search of new land to conquer and settle on, to bring their ideas to and in search of treasure. Each visitor was on a quest to discover our islands – and now it’s your turn to do the same!

Whether you are visiting Mull and Iona for a day, a week or much longer, complete as many of the clues as you can (you don’t need to find them all), and return your sheet to the Craignure Visitor Information Centre to receive your certificate and special prize.

The clues are all at well-known landmarks around our islands, and with a few exceptions, they are all open year-round and are free to visit.

#repost @merlins_mind Goodbye summer! 🌿🌊 This is one of my favourite summer pictures I took a year ago on the Isle of Mull. Next week I’m off to Crete for a short holiday but I am already looking forward to autumn in the Scottish Highlands. Are you ready for autumn or can’t you get enough of summer? I guess I ask this every year 😂☀️🍂

Local artist Aska Marzec has has lived on the Isle of Mull for 16 years and specialises in painting Scottish landscapes. Last year, she cycled from Barra to North Uist and stayed to paint from a tent. This August 4th-14th, Aska is planning to see and paint in the outdoors of Lewis and Harris, taking her painting gear and tent by car. Her intention is to connect with the landscape, their inner self, and jot down ideas. Through her art, she hopes to help keep church buildings on Mull open and create awareness of this important cause.

The fundraising page states that all of the funds raised will help keep the Torosay Church building open. The building is owned by the Church of Scotland and is currently used for weekly worship by the Church of Scotland, a Roman Catholic congregation, and pilgrims traveling to Iona.

If you would like to donate, the link is on our Facebook post.
@theulvaferry “We’ve had a great start to the week, with lots of happy visitors exploring the unspoilt beauty of Ulva and I’m always happy to fill people in with the reality of being a resident… The rest of the week is looking good, so if you can, pop over.”
